BiographySteven M. Cohen was involved in the hedge fund business for more than twenty-five years, a period of explosive growth in the alternative investment space. He was a principal and portfolio manager in several private partnerships and for ten years was the chief investment officer at a multi-strategy firm serving both high net-worth individuals as well as institutions including endowments, pension funds, and foundations. In his role as a merger arbitrage specialist he has appeared numerous times on CNBC and Bloomberg Television and was often quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and other financial periodicals. Prior to his investment career Mr. Cohen practiced law for several years, chiefly in corporate litigation. He earned his undergraduate degree in Government at Skidmore College, his J.D. at the Hofstra University School of Law, and an M.A. at the University of Missouri Graduate School of Journalism. His first job out of school was for a small newspaper in upstate New York, and with this blog he feels he is returning to his journalism roots. |
